Ariane IPL – light for a more even skin tone

Redness, visible surface blood vessels, pigmentation and unwanted hair require different treatment settings. Ariane IPL uses light pulses selected for the area being treated and the desired outcome.

Skin treatments aim for a more even tone and a reduction in visible redness or pigmentation. For hair removal, treated hairs gradually shed after treatment and hair growth reduces over a course of sessions. Several sessions are needed because hairs are at different stages of growth.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

IPL is suitable for certain pigmentation and vascular concerns, and for reducing hair growth. Suitability depends on skin tone, tanning, the nature of the concern and hair colour.

Skin conditions and unclear pigmentation changes are assessed by a doctor before treatment when needed. Redness associated with rosacea can sometimes be treated, but IPL does not replace medical treatment of the condition.

French IPL technology, individually targeted

Ariane is a light-based treatment device developed by the French company Eurofeedback. IPL uses broad-spectrum pulsed light; it is not a laser. Depending on the treatment, light energy targets structures such as pigment or haemoglobin in blood vessels.

For hair removal, light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and heat targets the hair follicle. Treatment works best on hairs in the active growth phase. Hairs do not reach this phase at the same time, so only some can be treated effectively at each visit. This is why a course of sessions is needed, with intervals planned around the growth cycle of the area.

What happens during your visit

We first assess your skin, any tan, medications and previous treatments. A test patch is carried out when needed. Eye protection is used during treatment, and the area is treated with controlled light pulses.

A pulse may feel like a brief snap and warmth. Afterwards, we check your skin's response and provide instructions on sun protection and the timing of your next appointment.

Results and client experiences

Skin treatments: the aim is a more even skin tone and a reduction in visible pigmentation and redness. Pigmentation may temporarily darken after treatment before it fades. Changes in blood vessels and redness are assessed once the skin has settled.

Hair removal: treated hairs do not disappear immediately; they gradually shed in the weeks after treatment. Eurofeedback's client information estimates that a session affects around 20% of hairs. This is an approximate figure: results depend on the area, growth phase, and skin and hair characteristics. A course of sessions targets hairs as they enter the active growth phase at different times.

The number of sessions and intervals are planned separately for skin treatments and hair removal. New skin changes or hair growth may appear later, and maintenance needs are assessed individually.

Skincare and recovery

Protect the treated skin carefully from the sun with an SPF 50 product. Avoid fresh tanning and sunbathing both before and after treatment, following the instructions for your treatment area.

Redness and mild swelling are possible. Do not rub the area or pick at darkened pigmentation. Contact the clinic if your skin blisters, pain increases or the reaction concerns you.

Frequently asked questions · Ariane IPL

No. IPL uses broad-spectrum pulsed light, whereas laser light has a more narrowly defined wavelength. In both, the light is targeted according to its purpose.

Suitable concerns may include certain pigmentation spots, surface blood vessels and redness. We first assess the nature of the change and your skin's suitability. Suspicious moles or skin lesions are not treated.

Not automatically. Skin pigmentation and tanning affect light absorption and the risk of side effects. Suitability and settings are always assessed individually.

Freshly tanned skin is not treated. Avoid sunbathing for several weeks before treatment and tell us about recent sun exposure. We assess your skin to determine when treatment can take place.

Very fair, grey and white hairs contain little of the pigment needed for targeting. The response may therefore be limited.

This depends on the concern being treated. Hair removal usually requires several appointments because of the growth cycle; the number of pigmentation and vascular treatments is assessed separately.

A light pulse often feels like a snap and warmth. The sensation varies with the area and settings.

Sun exposure and tanning limit when treatment can take place. Plan your course for a time when you can protect your skin and follow the UV restrictions.

Pregnancy, photosensitising medicines, active skin infection and certain illnesses may prevent treatment. Also tell us about photosensitivity and epilepsy. We do not treat over tattoos or suspicious skin lesions.
