Medik8 is a company with scientific roots. Thus, technology plays a major role in the design, manufacture, and even presentation of our products to customers. We are constantly striving to improve our products and learn more.

Active ingredients literally thousands are available to our product development.

Except for a few “expert-made ingredients” where we found interesting compounds, we prefer to search through literature and research for one effective ingredient and build a product based on it. Medik8 has divided its products into categories.

In the anti-ageing category we really only have a few active ingredients to choose from – and our expertise comes from high-quality raw materials and how the products are made.

Very popular active ingredient vitamin C, in the form of L-ascorbic acid, is very effective but highly unstable. And when its effectiveness decreases, it doesn't just become ineffective, it turns from an antioxidant into a free radical, which in other words is a harmful ingredient.

We go to great lengths to ensure the stability of our L-ascorbic acid products, so that it remains stable not only during its shelf life but also after opening.

The techniques we use are closely guarded trade secrets, but they are purely based on chemistry. However, there is no better way to achieve the optimal composition than to test small batches of different compositions and conduct a stabilization test in a 47-degree 'aging' oven.

When we launched CE-Thione (which contains 15% L-ascorbic acid), Medik8 presented its research work to cosmetologists, doctors, nurses, and other skincare professionals at several medical conferences. We detailed to them the unprecedented steps we use to continuously develop better stability.

When product development takes literally years, it is important to give our research and development team the opportunity to get out of the lab to talk to people who work with customers and explain to them how the product is scientifically made.

We got to present at a significant conference at the Royal College of Physicians in London the impressive finding of CE-Thione's 18-month stability, which made it the leading product on the market.

The most important active ingredients used by Medik8 in anti-aging products are vitamin C, hydroxy acids, and sun protection. We are also interested in cell signaling molecules, such as certain peptides.

For pigmentation, acne, dry skin, and redness, we have selected our own active ingredients using the same careful methods as for anti-aging products.
